HELSINKI (Reuters) - Farmers and other locals were chasing thousands of minks let out of their cages at a fur farm in western Finland early on Friday by suspected animal rights activists.

This kind of animal activism infuriates me.

If you have an issue with a sector of trade, you take it to the government, and address it there. You don't go attack the little guy at the bottom who's trying to make a living, a legal living I might add.

I'm not a fan of fur farms, as in my view fur and leather should only be a byproduct of our large apettites for meat, anything else just seems wasteful. And I'd gladly tell anyone interested of that view. But to go attack an individual, or a single operation, over my view would be highly defeating the purpose.

Not to mention the environmental impact. Geez.

I agree Karrie, and sometimes, like this, the fools are sacrificing animals to make a point. And to think I was going to send you a fur coat, but now the price will just go up enough to be out of my reach.

Here's the other problem....mink raised in "fur farms" have no idea how to fend for themselves. Releasing them is a death sentence.
