Milla Jovovich’s Resident Evil stunt double is suing the film franchise’s producers after losing her arm in an injury she sustained on set.
Olivia Jackson was working as the actress’ stunt double on 2016’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter when an action scene went awry after Milla’s director husband, Paul W.S. Anderson, allegedly changed the schedule at the last minute due to rain.
Jackson alleges she was asked to perform a “dangerous and technically complex motorcycle scene” in “adverse weather,” according to the new lawsuit, and as a result of the alleged schedule change, a technical miscalculation led to a camera slicing off the stuntwoman’s forearm and tearing her cheek back “leaving her teeth exposed.”
Jackson claims she also sustained injuries to her spine, eye socket, and ribs, and will never be able to work as a stuntwoman again.
She also claims producers misled her over the extent of her medical insurance and, had she been properly informed about the coverage, she “would have secured additional insurance on her own.”
Jackson alleges producers promised to pay for her medical costs, but haven’t.
She is suing Anderson, and producers at Bolt Pictures and Tannhauser Gate for breach of contract and misrepresentation, seeking unspecified damages.
