Maximo Park's Paul Smith has revealed the band hope to release their new album next March.
He also explained why Maximo Park chose Pixies producer Gil Norton to helm their new album rather than 'A Certain Trigger' producer Paul Epworth.
Speaking to Pitchfork, Smith said the band hope to release a 12 or 13 track album in March 2007, with a single out in January.
With reference to the decision not to use Bloc Party and The Futureheads collaborator Paul Epworth again as producer, Smith said: "We wanted to use somebody who didn't tell us what to do and didn't think that they knew everything about music, and would have a particular sound."
Songs currently being recorded for the record include 'Russian Literature', 'Girls Who Play Guitar', 'Books From Boxes' and live favourites 'Nosebleed' and 'By The Monument'.
New track 'Our Velocity', mooted as a future single, is described by Smith as "a spaceship exploding".
Maximo Park have also devised a novel way of telling fans about their new multimedia website
In the final song of their Carling Weekend: Reading Festival set, 'Apply Some Pressure', the eccentric band fired out confetti labelled with the website's address onto the crowd
