He deserved it. BTW, he was a senior education civil servant who was responsible for dismantling the Residental School system there, as part of his accomplishments.
Actually, I'm quite sure he did, and I'm even impressed. I'm just mocking these civic awards, because they seem really lame compared to military medals or the European honors system. They're actually a great way to recognize people who have contributed a lot to their communities and civilization generally.
I'm also aware that for a cynical a-hole, you're proud of your family, your community, and your country. And I admire that.
