A 47-year-old man faces an assortment of charges for allegedly beating up a convenience store clerk after an attempt to subdue her with a noxious substance failed during a robbery last week.
And Toronto Police say the accused man is behind bars thanks to help from some brave citizens.
“This was a violent, violent attack,” Staff-Insp. Mike Earl, who heads up the Holdup Squad, said Tuesday. “The store clerk was badly hurt.”
He said a pistol-packing thug entered the variety store near Dufferin St. and Roselawn Ave., a block north of Eglinton Ave. W., around 10 p.m. Friday and approached the woman working behind the counter.
