Yes, like Isaiah wrote and Luke recorded in Luke 4:18-19. Thank you for being patient with me. I have a couple more Scriptures to share. Thank you for giving us your opinion on them.

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,‘ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, ‘Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” (Romans 10:9-11, NIV).

How you you understand this bit of Scripture, TB?
I've known a few who professed faith and died young.

“Then Miss Watson she took me in the closet and prayed, but nothing
come of it. She told me to pray every day, and whatever I asked for I
would get it. But it warn’t so. I tried it. Once I got a fish-line,
but no hooks. It warn’t any good to me without hooks. I tried for the
hooks three or four times, but somehow I couldn’t make it work. By and
by, one day, I asked Miss Watson to try for me, but she said I was a
fool. She never told me why, and I couldn’t make it out no way.

"I set down one time back in the woods, and had a long think about it.
I says to myself, if a body can get anything they pray for, why don’t
Deacon Winn get back the money he lost on pork? Why can’t the widow
get back her silver snuffbox that was stole? Why can’t Miss Watson fat
up? No, says I to my self, there ain’t nothing in it. I went and told
the widow about it, and she said the thing a body could get by praying
for it was “spiritual gifts.” This was too many for me, but she told
me what she meant–I must help other people, and do everything I could
for other people, and look out for them all the time, and never think
about myself. This was including Miss Watson, as I took it. I went out
in the woods and turned it over in my mind a long time, but I couldn’t
see no advantage about it–except for the other people; so at last I
reckoned I wouldn’t worry about it any more, but just let it go.”

Yes, humanly-speaking, Jesus died young. Keith Green was young when he died.

“And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again” (2 Corinthians 5:15, NIV).

What are your thoughts concerning this verse?

Sounds like the "you will be saved" stuff was a lie.

May I ask about your thoughts concerning this verse, TB?

Fiction. And not very original fiction. Basically a re-working of the Osiris story.
I have one final Scripture reference that I would like to present for your consideration.

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me” (Revelation 3:20, NIV).

In another thread, you recently expressed interest in sharing coffee ☕️ with the Lord. As He stands at the door of your life, knocking and asking to come in, are you ready to open the door, TB?

Just opened it. Nobody there.

To recap, Jesus came to liberate the oppressed (Luke 4:14-30).
Spiritually-speaking, that includes all of us.

We are all flawed and fail to live up to our potential (Romans 3:23).
Apart from intervention, our condition is terminal (Romans 6:23).
We all need a spiritual reset in our lives (John 3:3).
Jesus Christ is the means of said reset (John 14:6).
The reset begins when we realize our situation and embrace His solution (Romans 10:9-11).
The reset progresses as we continue with Him (2 Corinthians 5:15).
This is your personal invitation to freedom (Revelation 3:20).

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”(Luke 4:18-19, NIV).

Not offering religion, DS. Religion is what we do to try to align with a deity. This is about recognizing our need and embracing the providence of God. Our need of liberation though overtly political and social is fundamentally spiritual. This liberty comes to us from God through Christ.

Those are quite extraordinary claims and we have no evidence any of them are true, just the claims themselves, written in a superstitious, pre-scientific, and largely pre-literate, age, by people who didn't know where the sun went at night, so I see no reason to take them seriously.

Why does the presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ make you so skeptical, DS?

That's not what makes me skeptical. I'm skeptical by nature and training and thus am not going to accept such extravagant and extraordinary claims without evidence. Tecumsehsbones has it right, there's not a shred of evidence for any of them, and as the inimitable Christopher Hitchens remarked, what can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. And no, you can't legitimately cite the Bible in support of itself, that's the fallacy of self-reference, not evidence.

“Inimitable” sounds like worship, DS.

You know about my spiritual beliefs, but I don’t know anything about yours. What are they?

Um. . . no, it's a statement of quality. Literally means "cannot be imitated."

And we don't know anything about your spiritual beliefs. We just know you swallowed the Christian bible whole.

Whatever Dex's "spiritual beliefs" may be, you can bet the rent they don't involve holding that one book is the sole, total, and absolute truth.

Only if you don't know what the word means. Worship's not even close. I can admire the man's wit and erudition, and I do or I wouldn't cite him approvingly, without worshiping him.

You'll have to define your terms before I can answer that, I don't know what you mean by spiritual beliefs, and I've found it means so many different things to different people that I can't answer so general a question about mine without some understanding of what the people asking think it means. I know something about your religious beliefs, that's what you talk about in your various Christian apologetics threads, but that's not the same thing as spiritual beliefs. If religious beliefs are what you're asking about, I haven't any. And however you define spiritual beliefs, I haven't many of those either. Possibly none in fact, depending on what you mean by the phrase.
