Layoffs issued to hundreds of ATCO workers
The mass layoffs keep coming in Alberta’s energy sector.
This time it’s ATCO doing some restructuring. Roughly 400 people are out of work, although ATCO won’t confirm the number. It calls it a response to “extremely challenging economic times” and thanks employees for their contributions.
Alberta’s labour ministry says more than 18,000 workers have been let go this year in group layoffs. More than three-quarters of them are related to oil and gas. (bd)
