King Charles III was joined by a host of famous faces at St James's Palace on Thursday for the King's Foundation Awards ceremony as the organisation marks its 35th anniversary.

The glittering guest list included famous mainly British and American stars such as former Manchester United, Real Madrid and England footballer David Beckham, British actress Kate Winslet, American actress Meryl Streep, American actor Stanley Tucci and British singer Rod Stewart.

Showing the "Special Relationship" between Britain and America is strong, American actress Meryl Streep has admitted she had a crush on the then Prince Charles when she was young and wanted to marry him. Stanley Tucci, meanwhile, is an avid Anglophile.

King to award Beckham a knighthood

The King is to award the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and England footballer a knighthood for his services to football and charity.

In recent years following his retirement from football Beckham - married to Posh Spice - has done lots of charitable work and has been something of an unofficial British ambassador abroad.

Just after the King decided to award Beckham the greatest prize of all the two met at the King's Foundation Awards gala...
