King Charles III makes Beckham and Southgate knights

King Charles III has bestowed knighthoods upon David Beckham and Gareth Southgate.
Beckham - who played for Manchester United, LA Galaxy and Real Madrid and 115 times for England - was given the award for his services to football and for his charitable work after he retired from the game.

Former England player and manager Southgate guided England to two consecutive European Championships Finals - in 2021 (albeit Euro 2020) and 2024 - which they lost against Italy and Spain respectively.
He became hated by England fans when his missed penalty in the Euro 96 Semi-Final penalty shootout put Germany in the Final at Wembley but today he is seen as something of a hero.
From now on they are Sir David and Sir Gareth.
