King Charles III and Queen Camilla have marked 25 years since Scotland gained devolution and acquired her own parliament.

Donning a kilt, King Charles III and his wife met with "community heroes" before signing a visitors' book at Queensbury House, which is part of the Scottish Parliament in Scotland's capital Edinburgh.

Just before the UK Head of State and his wife arrived the Scottish Crown was taken to the Scottish Parliament under armed guard and handed out by the Lord Lyon King of Arms to the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon, Scotland’s senior peer.

The duke then got out of the car and took the Crown into parliament.

The King of Arms will always carry the Scottish Crown into the Scottish Parliament just before the Monarch enters.
