2008 presidential hopeful John McCain said Sunday that the consequences of a military conflict with Iran over that country's nuclear program could be so serious they could lead to "Armageddon."

That is so shallow since the U.S. and Russia are the only countries with the capability to bring on Armegeddon, it is up to those two countries to stop it, or make it happen.

Maybe it will not be us that will face Armageddon, maybe it will be our childern. With Europe going though a massive demographic change and Iran becoming an emerging power in the middle east what does the future hold. If Iran had the bomb would Isreal survive? If the peace activities will not stand up to conventional suicide bombers to preserver our freedom of speech, is there hope for us to stand up in the threat of a nuclear act of aggression. The center of power in the next centenary may very well be Babylon. Imagine the Taliban as cops of the future. Fear is power. We fear. Suicide bomber’s have no fear.

The US produced, and for many years deployed "Atomic Demolition Munitions." The Medium Atomic Demolition Munition (MADM) produced 1-15 kilotons of yield, and weighed 400 pounds. The Special Atomic Demolition Munition (SADM) yielded .01-1 kilotons and weighed only 163 pounds.

The smallest nuclear weapon the US produced was the "Davy Crockett" - a recoilless rifle round. It weighed about 51 pounds, was 16 inches long and 11 inches in diameter. It produced a variable yield of up to 1 kiloton.

An excellent discussion of this issue is here.

The Soviets supposedly produced "suitcase nukes" and there is no reason to doubt this assertion. Former Soviet General Ledbed has asserted that a number of these are not accounted for. There are reasons, however, to doubt his assertions given his political position. Interestingly, Ledbed was recently killed in a helicopter crash.

War with Iran could result in World War III

But Armageddon is a religious belief in the end of times.

But Iran will make it into a World War.. thats for sure.

And the USA will finally realize their allies and enemies...and hopefully Canada does not become the enemy (not joining)

So you want us to believe Bush and Blair who have become the biggest liars in the modern age. How can we trust anything they say or do? There were no limits to what they did to start the Iraq war, now it is Iran what after that North Korea. Everything has been done to goad Iran into doing something drastic. Even Iraqi officials are surprised that British forces were operating in the area. The US have had a battle group in the Gulf since Dec. 2006 right in Iran's face. If you were a small country would you feel threatened, especially when you believe they could attack at any minute?

I do not agree with what Iran did and never will, but I do not believe war is the answer. The Iraq war has increased terrorism in the world and if Bush and Blair attack another Muslim country it will be even worse.

Do you regret that Canada did not join these two in their fabricated and unjust war in Iraq? Don't forget that the best judge of the future is their past actions. I am suspicious of what has happened, if they want a war with Iran they have proven they are capable of causing it by hook or by crook.

Iran has just signed a big contract with India to build an pipe line, the US objects. Imagine they did not ask permission, what an snub to the Empire they need to be taught a lesson at all costs.

We can take that a few steps farther, and add, how can we trust what 'any' leader of any country
says and does.
If Putin makes some announcement or statement, 'who knows'!
If any of the middle east countries/far east/africa/s/e asia/austrailia/and on and on make some
statement re: war or their stance on what 'others' are doing, how do we know they are correct or
just posturing for some other reason. WE DON'T, we all pick our favourites to trash, and talk as
though the others are innocent/victims.
Right now the U.S. is at the forefront, because they are the most recent IDIOTS, and many other
leaders are behind the scenes laughing because all the dirty deeds they do are lost in the shuffle.

We`ll search for answers with Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, the authors of the wildly successful "Left Behind" series and acclaimed author Joel Rosenberg.

Have you ever been to Iran? It is without a doubt more desolate than Iraq. The only redeeming things about that place its the oil and the mineral rich mountains near the Russian border. Even the agriculturalists who gow crops there and have for years struggle every year with the lack of water, poor soils and support for their mechanized equipment. The biggest thing Iran has is it's military and while I haven't had contact with them for years the last time I did they were well organized, very obedient to their leaders and well equipped. Many of their command level officers at that time were trained in the west by the US, Britain and France. If we are so arrogant as to commence hostilities against this waste land we need to have a complete White House house cleaning. It is not only arrogant, it is stupid. But look at their recent history. The place isn't inhabited by the sterling scholars they pretend to be. In WW II we gave the Balkans, Poland and central Europe to the Russians in secret written agreements. I wonder what type of secret agreements we are making now?

I hope Canada sides with whoever is committed to avoiding unnecessary war.

I find that statement by John McCain to be 'way over the top'. He seems to be hanging around with
Bush too much. I think he just wants all the votes Bush would have received in next election. It's
all about politics.
There are so many countries in the world with Nuclear Power, how can others stop Iran, when the
others weren't stopped, (exception N. Korea), and we are not completely sure about them, really, if
they did actually have it, or were just 'bragging".
