So, I've made a decision. This year I will make the necessary modifications to my home in order to curb some of "personal" greenhouse gas emissions while slicing my annual energy costs by half.

It's not going to be easy, I have done alot of research on it lately and it's going to be an uphill battle.

One thing I have decided on is leasing an E85 vehicle as opposed to a regular gas guzzler. I won't lie, I will miss my SUV, I like the handle of the vehicle and I feel safer. But I'm also getting older so I don't drive as fast anymore. :laughing7:

As for my house, I will focus first on electrical power consumption.

I have compiled bills over the last two years and have found, I consume 30KWH per day.

My first experiment will be to replace every single incadescent bulb in my house with ENERGY STAR bulbs. This will cost me approximately $400. I am going to implement this on the beginning of the billing cycle which is February 12th.

I'll keep you all posted, see what happens by the end of the year.

Keep us informed how this works.

I do my bit by keeping my house at 78-80 in summer. Most down here have it at 70-72. That slices about $200 off my energy bill.

However, I'm doing it because I like it warm, not because I'm sensitive or anything. That's a nice side effect.
