I'm not too worried about some sikh kid cutting me with a dagger, and people are making a big deal out of nothing. I could break off a chair leg, use a broken mop handle, or even use a snapple bottle to kill someone.

It's not a question of "if they'll kill me". It's a question of justice. We in Canada cannot conceal weapons and take them to school. As Canadian citizens they should not be allowed either. It's a question of fairness. Why, based on religion, can people be excused from the Criminal Code of Canada, the basis for our society? There is a line when it comes to freedom of religion and this kirpan issue has crossed it. Yes I feel they have a right to exercise their religion, but not at the expense of my Countries laws. The only reason the kirpan issue was aprroved was because it involves a minority. Politcal correctness has been taken overboard in society. We're so afraid of offending the moral minority that we tip-toe around everything that we've built up over decades. I can assure you that if a white person had gone to the supreme court (ha) to argue his right to take a weapon to school based on some religious or heritage aspect he'd be denied. A week later a minority could waltz in with the same arguments and he'd be approved. Our legal system is broken.

The simple solution to the hardhat issue is this: wear the hardhat under your bloody turban[and put them both on in the presence of a supervisor}. The knife is another matter, and should be allowed to be worn only if small enough to fit on a keychain!

I remember the time all the local schools banned the compass from the math sets we used to have..the sharp points were being used to hurt other students. So,in this age of not being allowed to carry even a pair of nail clippers on board an airplane, this ritual knife law is just plain stupid
