The Republic of Ireland has decided to allow Royal Navy warships to patrol her waters.
The small country with a tiny navy has decided to turn to her much larger next door neighbour for her maritime defence.
Ireland has also agreed to such an arrangement with France.
The country is seeking help from her two large and powerful neighbours as she is starting to feel threatened by passing Russian ships.
The Irish Navy consists of just 8 ships and the Republic of Ireland is not part of NATO.
