Americans waste $165bn of food annually: Study

Americans throw away as much as 40 percent of their annual food purchases, equivalent to at least $165 billion worth of produce and meat while hundreds of millions of people suffer globally from chronic hunger, according to a major US study.

The analytical study released Tuesday by a US environmental group, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), says that the huge waste occurs all the way from farmland to the dinner table at a time when ongoing drought threatens a further surge in food prices, US daily the Washington Post reports.

salmonella ;) nope,just don't like it..

No never had the same issues at Carl's Jr in Kelowna, DQ or A&W

Ok, I am not sure if anyone will read this but I found this hilarious when I read this post. I have just recently returned from a work function in Houston Texas where I decided to go mc Donalds for lunch. I am not a fan of pickles and never had a problem getting it removed from my burgers in Canada. Now I don't usually have high expectations in the states when it comes to customer service, I live on a border city and have had more then enough bad experiences in that department. However, removing pickles is not a difficult thing to do....well this lady was rude from the minute I ordered so instead of just removing the unwanted condiments myself I went back up and asked her if I could get a new burger, this was out of the question and after about a ten minute debate, I received a refund and was off to find another place for lunch.....

I have never responded on one of these but after my experience and then reading this I couldn't resist....guess it's not a Canadian thing, maybe just an individual thing. In the end we ended at a great little restaurant where I had the best ribs ever so I should be thanking her!
