I Hate Rogers - Should I Get Bell ExpressVu?

Greetings,
First of all - let me just say that I HATE Rogers as a company and the way they do business. They will claim that a certain TV package is $49.99 a month and then you wonder why your bill ends up being $100+. Well I learned that they bill 2 months in advance, so if you were to miss paying a bill for whatever reason - your next $49.99 a month bill would actually be $200+ and they might just send a Rogers guy to warn you that they will be cutting the cable if FULL payment is not made immediately.

For phone service and as a company in general - I personally have NEVER had any problems with Bell. If I ever had a bill outstanding and they sent me a disconnection notice to pay a certain amount - I could pay less than what they requested and they still wouldn't disconnect me. I prefer companies that are willing to negotiate and take any payment to keep you as a customer (sometimes life happens and you don't have the cash) as opposed to a company like Rogers who are disconnect happy unless you give them full payment today, despite the fact that their billing methods/terms are questionable.

So I was thinking about doing away with Rogers and getting Bell ExpressVu. This is what I was told on the phone. They have a 2 month free promotion. If I choose to keep it, I will first be billed for two months, but then I will be billed per month for whatever package I choose with a charge of 3 dollars a month for the box. Would this billing information be accurate?

How is the perfomance of Bell ExpressVu? If it rains or snows - might I miss my favorite shows? Does Bell ExpressVu offer more channels than Rogers? By the way, I don't have HD, so I would be just using the regular digital signal. Is the reception still good? Am I forced to order certain packages if I just want a channel that would be considered a basic cable channel like A&E on Rogers. I assume Bell ExpressVu doesn't work like cable in terms of packages. If you want to get the exact same channels as you had on Rogers, you are going to have to go package crazy.

I would greatly appreciate if Bell ExpressVu customers on here - could give me a good news and bad news breakdown about Bell ExpressVu and if I should go with them based on performance, reception and customer service.

Thanks a million.

Move to Saskatchewan and use SaskTel. ;-)

My experience with them over several decades: competitive prices on all services--local and long distance telephone service, cable TV, cell phones, ISP-- best coverage for cell phones, good customer service, bullet-proof reliability. I also get zero spam in my email--really first rate configurable filters--and have had only four false positives in 10 years.

I haven't personally had any problems with Expressvu. However, rain and snow will knock out service, almost all the time. I can find that annoying at times.

There needs to be a significant ammount of rain or snow to knock out the signal to your dish. It's not so much of a problem as it used to be.

I used to be bell expressvu, if you disconnect, be sure to give two months notice. Went with bell around five years ago, had a receiver that was apparently easy to cheat, they wanted me to buy another receiver, I refused, and ended up being able to watch only one channel. By the way, I never tried to cheat. Anyway went to star choice, got free receiver and installation, they have the military channel. Can't say much for stars movies, but then, I'm not into chick flicks or mindless violence, so not much for me to choose from. Bell must have really got hurt in the last year, because they sent me a bag of popcorn, and all but begged me to return to the fold. When I had my changeover, the techs had numerous bells to replace that day and all month. I think the less severe winter had a lot to do with better reception, its just tough luck that the dish has to be pointed in the direction it is.

Get Star Choice for tv reception. They have a great system where you can buy up to three receivers and use them throughout the house or uno as everybody does... Unbeatable.
