B.C. Finance Minister Kevin Falcon says he's confident a possible postal strike won't halt plans for a mail-in ballot on the HST.
Postal workers could be off the job as early as Wednesday.
Elections BC plans to send out the HST referendum ballots between June 13 and June 24.
It's up to the chief electoral officer to deal with the possible disruption in postal service, said Falcon.
"The public will get their vote," he said. "It's just a question of the chief electoral officer making sure he does that in a way that satisfies the Referendum Act and satisfies the potential unforeseen circumstances."
The B.C. government has already made one pre-emptive move in case of a strike — sending welfare cheques out a week early to avoid possible payment disruptions.
There's been no word from Elections BC on whether the referendum may have to be postponed. Results of the provincewide vote on the future of the tax are not expected until August

I hope the people of BC turn down the HST and force the Liberals to admit they tried to keep their enormous
deficit a secret by using the money the Feds gave them to pay it down by half.
