Hi,

Please can you tell me if you can get the following American channels in Canada

USA Network
CBS Sports

And if you can't get them, what is your coverage of the US Open tennis like?

I'm going to be on holiday in Canada when its on, and want to bet on it, but want to be watching the matches live, with good fast tv coverage

Finally, please can you tell me if your tv systems work like the US, on cable or satellite, or are they more like the UK where you can get some stations just with an arial?

Thanks for any help you can give me, and sorry for the strange requests

You cannot directly subsbcribe to the USA Network or CBS Sports in Canada.

The US open is broadcasted in Canada via TSN, which is a dedicated sports channel. I believe they broadcast it both in standard defintion & high definition.

In canada, you can receive tv programming in 3 ways. Cable, Satellite or "Free to Air". Our cable & satellite technologies are very similar to what is offered in the US.

Brilliant, thanks

Is TSN free to air? And is it on Cable, Satellite or free to air?

And do they have the same coverage in the US? The US show it live from 10am til midnight every day

Thanks again for such a quick reply

Here is a link

You will need cable or a satellite hook up to receive TSN

Thanks

I can't seem to find any details about their coverage of the US Open, maybe its too far in advance. I have emailed them to ask

Also important to me is the speed of the pictures. In the UK, we have different ways of picking up pictures, which means different time delays in when you watch them

If you watch BBC1 through your normal television ariel plugged into the wall in the UK, you'll get your pictures 2 seconds FASTER than if you were watching through a digital satellite system

Does the same thing work in Canada?

I know it seems stupid to moan about a 2 second delay, but it can make quite a bit of difference for what I am using the pictures for

Is it the same in Canada?

You should have no problem seeing US Open Tennis. I'm not a tennis fan but remember during US Opens I can't seem to get away from it. They do show the late evening stuff. If it is on CBS it's likely a 2 second delay as it funnels through the Canadian ad network first. If on TSN there probably isn't a delay. That's how golf is anyway.

RE: Help with Canadian Te

You will have the same sort of issues in Canada. I doubt you will be able to receive the US open via arial though, unless you can pick up a signal from the States.

With Satellite, you will have at least a 2 second delay.

Source > Broadcast Center (uplink) > Satellite (downlink) > You

Brilliant detailed replies, thanks. Its nice to find people who understand what I'm asking, most forums don't have a clue

I'd be in a hotel somewhere, I assume there aren't any cities close enough to the US so that I could get it via arial are there?
