I was born in England so i guess i'm a British citizen for life,but my Montreal born daughter is doing a university semester in England next year and although going on her Canadian passport wont be a problem she was asking me about her eligibility for a British Passport which would probably give her the option of getting some form of part time job while she is over there.anyone have any knowledge of passport procedures.?

Provided that you were married to her mother at the time that your daughter was born, she is eligible for a passport for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (through a claim of citizenship). To apply, she needs to visit the Web site of the United Kingdom’s Identity and Passport Service (here). The form can be completed on-line, and when completed, IPS prints the form and sends it to her address for signatures and the collection of documents. She must include, with her documents, a photocopy of your United Kingdom birth certificate, two copies of a United Kingdom passport photo, photocopies of both sides of your daughter’s provincial ID, and a guarantor must sign the provincial ID photocopy, one of the passport photos, and s. 10 of the application form. The passport fee is £77.50.
There are also organisations that can assist you with applications for United Kingdom passports for Canadians (such as Immigroup.com, here); however, these organisations charge exorbitent fees for assistance (up to Ca$250). My recommendation would be that you give a call to the Identity and Passport Service’s Passport Adviceline at 0300 222 0000 for assistance and suggestions. I hope that helps at least somewhat!
