To get a glimpse of the amazing scenes the world shall witness on Saturday here is the full Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on 2nd June 1953 - in glorious colour and narrated by Laurence Olivier.

In 1953 Elizabeth II was crowned by Archbishop of Canterbury Geoffrey Fisher. On Saturday Charles III will be crowned by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.

As a YouTuber once said, this makes the US Presidential Inauguration look like a junior high school dance.

That's because the President is not the sovereign. The President is a public official.

According to the tradition, King Charles was born better than you, and nothing you accomplish in life can change that. He embodies the sovereignty of Britain, and you are doomed to be his lesser and his subject all your days. Trump's delusions notwithstanding, the President serves at the pleasure of the people, for a limited time, and after that is just "Mister" or "Ms," nothing special, different, or higher.

Britain is a constitutional monarchy. Therefore the monarch serves only with the consent and the blessing of the people. The monarch is a public servant. In fact, the monarch is the greatest public servant in the land.

Also, remember that in the USA the Head of State and the Head of Government is the same person, whereas in Britain the monarch is the Head of State and the PM is the Head of Government. Therefore the one who leads the Government and actually governs the country is the one who is elected democratically.

Constitutional monarchy is the greatest form of governance in the world today.

I'll acknowledge that it works for you, if you'll acknowledge that it would have been retarded for us to make George Washington king and get a monarchy going.

And let's not pretend that the "constitutional monarchy" isn't a relatively new thing in the history of Britain.

Well England has been a constitutional monarchy since the 1688 Glorious Revolution.
