Former leader of the Scottish National Party and Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond has died aged 69.
Salmond - who was behind the 2014 Scottish independence referendum which he and the SNP lost as the Scots voted against independence - died in North Macedonia yesterday just after making a speech.
After losing the bid to make Scotland independent, Salmond eventually resigned as SNP leader and Scottish First Minister to be replaced in both jobs by Nicola Sturgeon.
Salmond went on to found and lead the nationalist Alba Party but now that he has passed away Scottish independence has taken another blow.
