The following are the extracts of speech of Chinese consulate, which he had made during his visit to Daily Jang, the Urdu newspaper.
The newly appointed Council General of China, Mr. Chen Shanmin, had said that some internal and external powers are trying to sabotage Olympic Games. He said that in Tibet the criminal agitation has been termed as Peaceful protest, While China's attempt to handle these criminal activities are treated as Human rights violation.
He said that Pakistan and China are trusted friends and this impression is not fair that China is shifting to India, as we do not forget our old friends while making new.
He said I came to Pakistan in 1972 for education. At that time there was a "Cultural Revolution" going on in China, many universities were closed down. The number of those students was not good enough, who could speak foreign languages. Government of Pakistan and its people helped a lot to Chinese students to learn foreign languages. I came here to learn English and I am very happy that I came to Pakistan again and doing my contribution to further strengthen the friendship between China and Pakistan.
He said that Media is very important organ/department. Media can play vital role between Pakistan and China. People should know, how China progressed, they should the type of political relationship, both countries have and about the economical co-operation. He said that in last 50 years, Pakistan-China friendship faced many challenges.
He said that China is progressing very fast. In 1978, we had started the "Open Door Policy" and in these 30 years, this policy had changed China. In terms of GDP, China is at number 4 and in terms of Imports & Exports, we are at number 3. In these 30 years, there is the 20% increase in China's GDP and even having a large population, China's per capita national income reached to 2000 USD. The world's biggest development projects completed, we have "Lon Satellite".
He said that China is facing many challenges. During last 30 years, the biggest succcess is that we are strictly following our "Socialist Pattern", successfully. We have our own kind of Democracy, we have solid leadership, continuation in policies, and planning is good. The Challenges we are facing include rising population, difference between rich and poor and un balanced development. Shanghai, Beijing and other port cities are so developed, that you can compare them with any western place. But China's South Western territories, especially bordering areas are not developed. To develop these territories, central government is providing financial assistance and increasing their revenues.
He said that one another big challenge, China is facing is that the developed countries, especially USA and the western countries have good loud voices through media regarding different international issues, while Chin's voice is weaker than those. He said that there is so much independence to Media in Pakistan, though. But its voice is also very weak. China's voice somehow listened a little more. We had more concentrated over economical development. Now developing our media too.
He said on 14 March, in Lahasa (or Lasa, sorry for wrong spelling), few separatist had launched bloody agitation and they conducted activities of looting, killing and stopping the roads. 18 innocent people died, they burn the human biengs alive and killed them, they looted banks and shops. If these kind of activities might happened in the west, they would taking the criminals down and making sure that this will never happen again. But China tried to do that, the westerners said that these criminal activities were peaceful protests and marked China's effort to take them down as violation of Human Rights etc.
He said that Lahasa is enjoying fast track development and from last 15 years, there is political and social stability. Those separatist are conducting their activities under the command of Dalai Lama. This year, China is holding Olympic Games and these people want to harm the image of China. He said such culprits tried to convince few countries to boycott Olympic Games but they have got no response. Those people do not want to see peaceful situation in China and in China, such people are very rare.
He said that we have an old saying that "Before you drink the fresh water, Do not forget those, who digged the well". In the1950s and 1960s, when the west put sanctions against China and banned China. Pakistan opened its air corridor for China. He said that China concentrated over social and economical reforms. The idea was that make yourself strong. When you will be strong enough, then your voice will also be heared. You can talk with others on equal basis. 2008-4-5 07:19 PM#1

Status Offline China Situation - Special objectives
The following is the article written by Mr. Akram Sahgal in Urdu newspaper. I am translating it in English. He had done a good analysis of events in China and their importance on the world level.
The way the events happened in China, during recent days, it could be easily measured, the significance of these events. The properties and belongings of Han Chinese are specifically targeted and destroyed. On 14th March, Non-Tibetan citizens were severely attacked and looting, killing and stopping roads (activities) could not be controlled. Mr. James Miles of The Economist told, upon his return that this unrest was pre-planned. He said, "I noticed that this target looting was against the specific sect. Infect against two sects. First in Lahasa it was against the Han Chinese and at the same time, it was against the Hui Muslims minority had also been targeted by them."
One of part of International media had done biased reporting to further raise the issue. Pakistani media should be very careful about such incentives. This particular international media had tried to colour the bloody protest as peaceful activities. While on the other hand, the attempt of Law enforcing agencies to handle such bloody protest/looting has been termed as Crack Down against (so called) peaceful activists. During this, the behaviour remains un-ethical of this particular international media, while displaying the images and writing Captions for these images. Infect, it could be observed that they have some special purposes behind their attempts. In the meanwhile, one USA'S big newspaper named Nepali police officers as Chinese (military) officers, while they were attempting to handle the Tibetan protestors. German (TV or Newspaper) station also accepted their mistake that they mistakenly showed riots video from Nepal, while reporting China. (Very Funny). Just as same as this, on 24th March 2008, German News channel confessed that they did a mistake in writing caption of one image of riots. British channel, which is very famous, they also showed one Chinese Police Officer, taking one injured person in ambulance, with the help of medical staff. But the caption of the image was, “The military is largely present in Lahasa”. But they (innocently?) ignored the First Aid and Red Cross sign in the image.
The basic (media) rules are ignored deliberately, the purpose of which was to harm China’s image and equal to creating trouble in the way of holding Olympics in China. How media can ignore such statistics. In which, 300 houses are burned in Lahasa, houses and 215 shops destroyed, 56 cars set to fire, 18 citizens died. In addition to this, 620 people injured. Is this a peaceful protest was organised? In 1989 too, the same kind of reporting has been done in Beijing. At 27 June 1989, in my article, “China, Handle with care”, I wrote that, “Military operation was conducted to enforce peace. It has been described in many ways. But few facts are simply not understandable. To fight with military, the weapons and people are present. If PLA really looking to do bloodshed, then how the military vehicles get burned? Few vehicles were standing in line(Que), if the protest were really peaceful. Without opening fire with machine gun, how the military armed vehicle got fire(Some movie, which the writer saw over western media). If the tanks are killing people (here it means, that people get killed because tanks run over them) then why the que of the tanks stopped for 30 minutes, because one non-armed person jumped over the first tank. And later one of his friend/partner take him down. If the brutalities were really that much than why the Chinese government allowed the international media, thus created bunch of problems for them.” Tony Glayson(Or Glidson), who is Field operator of Tibet Poverty Alleviation Fund (American organisation), he had also confirmed that that there was no truth in crackdown story. He told that people through stones over cars and set fire in many areas. But Police did not opened fire on them. The foreigners, present there at time, also have the same opinion.
Just two weeks before the March riots, more than 200 followers of Dalai Lama had left Dharamsalla Headquarter (Dalai Lama’s headquarter in Tibet, I think) for Lahasa. Which is the proof that riots/protests were conducted by Dalai Lama under his well-established planning. Due to his exile, his personality questioned many ways. He is continuously denying the political system of Tibet. He is claimant of large part of Tibet, which is almost equal to the quarter of China. While there is no such evidence available through out the history. Exiled leaders proposing free country under “Carter of Tibetan”. Such activities are against the security of China. Such demands are coming only from those people, who have their own personal interests (Here the writer intended to say that they have nothing to do with the common people)
Why Dalai Lama is trying to divide Han and Tibetan Chinese. While the central government is allocating huge development funds and man power for this area. In last 5 years, (the central government) provided 95 Million Yuan (13.5 USD). (Since) 2001, government institutions and ministries had started 2876 projects. All sects of people in Tibet are living with Peace. And this is what is disturbing to Dalai Lama, as he is observing that he might have to loose (all) people’s support. Since China won to held Olympic, struggles are going on that countries are convinced to boycott the Olympic. They are trying to present this as something like Darfur(Sudan)/ trying to represent it as huge/big internal issue. The haters of China had now openly popped up. And struggles are going on to create boycott situation in the opening ceremony of Olympic. So far no government had announced to do so. International community should unite to held (peaceful) Olympic. This is an international event and should not be flamed by the politics.
On 26th September 1989, I wrote in my article “Solidarity with China”, “In last 10 years, there are tremendous economical reforms in China. Which resulted in huge progress/development. Now Soviet Union also doing reforms on Chinese pattern. Sea Belt are progressing well. Small farm unit had did tremendous growth due to ownership rights. Production increased so fast.” While looking China’s growth, it is not surprising to see the plannings against China to harm its international image. Because China had left many countries behind in terms of economical development. It is also not surprising that many factors are not less than Economical Threat for China. Infect, the problem, how powerful China will become, this is some thing to worry about for some countries.
