Fixed Election Dates

in Ontario they have set that up, ever 4 years in October. I beleive one other province has it? The only problem is when you have minority governments, were a gov. could fall at anytime. example, what if a minority losses confidence in July. we have an election and form a new government staring Sept, then wham your up against the fixed election date in Oct?
What about having our governance system dispense with the whole 'confidence' idea? (another discussion thread) Then there would be no problem.
Are there ways to control that? Such as no campaigning before a specific date. Also candidates will not be official until after a certain date and, under our proposal of equal campaign funding there would only be campaign funds available as of a certain date.
I do not support fixed election dates or plural ballot voting. Transferable ballots a manipulative, and besides why would I vote for one set of beliefs and support another further down the same ballot?

That's right. Cretin didn't abuse our system, he just went to the polls 2 years before he needed to because the opposition had just elected a new leader and hadn't had a policy meeting yet. Fixed dates are the fairest way to go. And the idea that we'd have longer campaigns is ludicrous; the campaigning never stops, they're politicians.
If a minority government falls before the fixed date a vote will take place but then the next vote would take place in October four years later(in Ontario), so the fixed date moves in the case of a minority losing power.
