A license is just permission from a dictator, not having one doesn't mean you can't drive, it just means the state doesn't like it because they didn't get their blood money or you haven't passed their standard - they would rather call you lier then take your word you know how to drive. After 20 years it is safe to say this man knew how to drive.

I applaud this mans sense of liberty.

I think it is abhorrent that the state would victimize him though by taking away his job! These are terrible dark times we live in! People welcome and kiss the chains that enslave them and call it liberty!

In BC they could've quickly got him a DL and slapped an "N" sticker on back of the firetruck.

hehehe Good for him. Although I would imagine they won't be giving him a pension.
I have seen papered "mechanics" who can't mechanic, people who pass bar exams and can't figure out law, doctors who wouldn't know a duodenum from a tibia, etc. One of the better mechanics I know now doesn't have papers. IMO, if someone can do their job why the hell do they need papers saying they can? Anyway, I would have kept the guy and just made sure he wouldn't drive anymore. After all, he's obviously shown he's reliable.
