In light of the recent concerns expressed by the Honourable John Reid, P.C., the Information Commissioner for Canada in terms of Bill C-2, the Federal Accountability Act, and in light of the fact that this piece of legislation would attempt to dissolve the office of the Senate Ethics Officer to merge it with that of the Ethics Commissioner (a move being made, in my opinion, for the exclusive purpose of attempting to provoke the Senate of Canada into exercising its authority), and in light of the fact that I don't think that the Government of Canada should be given the right to place more powerful barriers between citizens and the Government's information, I would argue that this bill should not be adopted.
