After receding into the shadows after his surprise defection from the Liberal Party of Canada, the Honourable David Emerson, M.P., P.C., the Minister of International Trade and Member for Vancouver Kingsway, appears to be making a tentative return to the public eye.
Accompanying the Honourable Lawrence Cannon, M.P., P.C., the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Member for Pontiac, Minister Emerson announced that in keeping with the promises made by the Conservative Party of Canada during the election, the Government of Canada is going to be paying particular attention to the commitments made under the Standing Up for B.C. campaign.
On this premise, Minister Cannon signed an agreement with the province of British Columbia to complete a project in relation to the Kicking Horse highway (a key Rocky Mountains transporation link between the East and West). In addition, Minister Emerson took part in the groundbreaking of the construction at the Olympic Village, in support of the province's hosting of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
