See, this is another thing that gets my goat. ALL of the parties are full of crap. It never ceases to amaze me how few people out there GET THAT! Instead, they line up behind one or another party and spew bull crap. The arguments of ALL of them are just candy for public consumption. Most don't stand up in the face of unbiased analysis. That is when the insults start and the discussion ends. And the people in power love to watch us tear each other apart, because as long as we believe the lie that we can change things with our vote, we won't demand real change.

RE: Dissatisfied with Cho

I would like to see a third or half of the mp's elected by first past the post and the other half or 2/3 rd's elected by proportional representation. That way it would be easier for smaller parties to get seats. More balanced House representing actual overall popular vote.

I would prefer full prop but I have not figured out a way to prevent mp's from being elected by larger centres. (thats the main drawback for full prop as we are a huge country and in BC for example Vancouver area would control who gets in and politicians would either live in Vancouver or spend all the time there because that is where the majority of votes would be.) We need to somehow keep representaion for smaller and rural areas.

We really need to change the way we vote. Maybe the next PM should start up a Citizens Assembly like what was done here to see how the public wants to vote.

Nothing wrong with having more choice and maybe a change will encourage more people to vote.

Knightman is going to start a new thread (hopefully) that has a new way of doing things, which may be interesting, as it appears to be a method to have a smaller central government, with more powers to the provinces (the ones which are guaranteed in the constitution, anyway), and more say on how they operate the required social programs. I am looking forward to his proposal.
