There's no cure for diabetes, it can't be healed, only controlled and managed. You can minimize its severity by controlling your weight, eating carefully, and exercising properly, but it'll never go away. And no, I don't have diabetes, but my father and his mother had mature onset diabetes and several of my first cousins got it in their teens, so there's probably a genetic tendency in the family. I've been very careful to minimize the chances of getting it myself, maintaining my weight around 200 pounds (normal for my height), eating well, and working out. So far so good...

I remember, when I was a teenager, my grandfather was diagnosed with diabetes, he had become overweight,
was a very short man, and became quite rolly polly.

Inside of a year, it was gone, sure I guess you can say it never really goes away, but with the
weight loss, and staying slimmer, he never suffered from it again, and he was the only person in
the family to be diagnosed with it, then and now, the extra weight definitely triggered it, and the
loss of weight allowed it to dissapear.

The onset of diabetes at a later age, seems much easier to control compared to a younger person, although
today they are saying with all of the 'fat' teenagers, who do nothing but eat, and watch tv, or sit at
their computers, diabetes is becoming more prominent amongst them.

There are two types of diabetes. type one and two. I have type two. I watch my weight,
and diet. So far I have kept my sugar levels under control and that is important. At one
time I didn't take it serious at all until I had a stroke behind my right eye. No I have about
98% of it back but it came back over a two year period. No its slightly out of focus but
it beats not being able to see at all. I am very careful now I tell you, the eye specialist
told me i had horseshoes cause it should never have come back that well.
Diabetes is not something to fool around with. Follow your Doctors instructions.

Diabetes is something that is part of family make up and if you set
yourself up for triggering it you end up with serious problems. Just
because you have it under control don't ignore it. Left untreated or
not following a plan, you can end up with kidney damage and other
related problems. Cholesterol and any form of diabetes is not good
news either, you have to watch weight, exercise, eat a balanced
diet, and be careful of certain foods. High blood pressure can also
add to the problems that come with diabetes. Type One or Two
diabetes can cause severe problems as time goes on, it creeps
up if the symptoms are ignored. Sugar fluctuations can cause a
variety of problems, I thought everything was fine, until I had a stroke
behind the right eye. I got most of my sight back but if I don't watch
it I could have even bigger problems. What ever you do, don't get
over confident. There are all kinds of problems waiting for those
who pretend they are fine. kidney, heart, circulation problems and
loss of limbs, strokes, vision problems, and the list goes on.
Work with your Doctor and get regular blood tests and check ups.

I don't have diabetes myself, but my six year-old daughter was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

As far as I know, there is no cure for diabetes, but we have made many lifestyle and diet changes in our home. And I have done a lot of reading: books, magazines, web sites, and many Internet forums that deal with natural medicine and diabetes specifically.
