Electrical power that is.
Greenpeace supprts my notion that we would do much better by having Decentralising Power instead of large plants sending it many miles.
Like they tried to do to Ralph Klein's house - cover the roof with solar panels!! Also, have generators in your exersize bike and so on. We can produce our own electricity , the technology is cheap and could easily be available.
De-centralise, for efficiency. What will our grandkids think when they find out we burned so much fossil fuel so poorly, there could have been some left over for them if we had gotten even HALF of its energy back in usefull form. We don't even try, and in fact many adancements in efficiency have been thwarted by oil interests...eg: car mileage is the same as in 1920, with a brief improvement in the 1980s, and then back down again.
Efficiency for the fossil fuels we burn on planet earth, with such consequences as global warming, as terribly poor, about 30% .
Even electricity is terrible efficiency - "heat loss alone represents a wastage of over 60% of the total energy released by burning the fossil fuels." {quote from link:
