(CBS) An Open Letter To President George W. Bush:

Dear Mr. President:

Like millions of Americans, I was moved by your appeal to open my heart and wallet at this time and think about the victims of the tsunami in Southeast Asia. Now I'm appealing to you to hold a more modest inauguration celebration so that money can be used for a more appropriate cause.

Most Americans would claim that everything is okay because the markets are up.

But, they are actually lower than this time last year after actuating the dollar decline.

Everytime the market begins to go south, Bush gets out on TV and "promises" everyone not to worry .... he is gonna privatize social security and allow funds to be invested in the stock market.

If you watch the market closely .... you will notice this too.
He keeps telling the American elite that they have no need to worry and he begs them to keep their investments until such time as he can arrange for them to pawn them off on unsuspecting pensioners.

The US is selling off major corporations like IBM and Unicol Oil as a means of trimming trade deficits. Other countries refuse to buy American products, but they love American oil companies and intellectual properties. America is so broke, they gotta sell the kitchen cupboard to pay the defense department budget!

In addition, there is a huge boycott of American products worldwide over this illegal invasion of Iraq.

I remember in the 80's when Japan bought the Empire State Building in New York.

Bush puts his makeup on with Bingo dabbers!

myself included. Back in the early 90's when our dollar was this high i admit I used to go shopping in Blaine and Bellingham, Washington. But no more. I go out of my way to buy Canadian and Canadian products even if it costs more. I realize with what they did to our Beef industry, screwed around PEI on the potatoes, BC on the Lumber etc. That they never really were our friends.

I saw on the news Bellis Fair has no where near the amount of Canadians shopping there as they were in the heyday of the early 90's when our dollar was this high. Man that mall in Bellingham was 70-75% Canadian and when the dollar went south the mall almost closed.

I believe the Iraq war is why their are not as many Canadians doing cross border shopping. I will never go to America again. There is lots to see and do and spend my money on in Canada.
