AS consumers of health care, we are being subjected to advertisements that are purely scandalous profiteering, complete with lies, manipulations by fear, and even Star Power.
I don't know if this post should be here or in Consumers, but this IS a political problem in many ways. The pharmaceutical industry MUST be regulated, they are playing profiteering games with our health - is there a more sacred and personal issue than our health?
The ad for Crestor is using an actor WHO PLAYS A DOCTOR on a TV show. Whats wrong with that is that people DO get sucked in by the actor's "persona" - maybe not you or me, but many do. Its as if a real doctor was saying these things that only doctors can say, like he KNOWS something. He doesn't.
Crestor is for lowering cholesterol. This is where CTP,OTS {Create the Problem, Offer the Solution] tactic is used:
Pay attention, its tricky - the "acceptable" levels of cholesterol in your bloodstream have been LOWERED to suit the drug industry. Same with Blood Pressure. Now, they are well within normal ranges so that MOST people would fit into the new categories where "you should be taking something to get those numbers lower".
See that? They lower the targets and scare us into taking pills. It is the same people who decide the acceptable levels, as makes the pills [and lobbies government regulators too].
The third problem with these ads for Crestor is the way they skate around the LIVER DAMAGE. Its no small danger!!! They 'admit' it by saying "if you have liver disease, don't take Crestor". Thats because there is no doubt your liver will BE damaged by Crestor, and BTW, almost every pharmaceutical developed in the past 20 years does liver damage. Pharmaceuticals are the primary cause of today's liver-problem epidemic, not Hepatitis although Hep is blamed thru misdiagnosis.
Liver damage does many strange things to our health. It is hard to tell what is the cause of your new health problem sometimes, but many things that go wrong are due to liver problems.
The primary CRIME here is that there are foods that do a better job than Crestor for reducing cholesterol.
Not surprisingly, the best foods for that are ILLEGAL. The food police will be at your door if you eat that one food with the perfect balance of Omega 3 & 6 EFA's, the ones that will reduce your cholesterol. It was the pharmaceutical industry that was behind the making of these laws - surprised? Does the word "Conspiracy" still sound flakey? THE FOOD IS HEMP SEEDS.
Hemp seeds , for food, were at one time in many areas of the world the most common reason for growing this plant. It was a staple food source 100 years ago, esp with Doukabors and Russians. There really is NO OTHER FOOD WITH THESEOILS IN THIS IDEAL PROPORTION . Flax seeds are next best, and cod liver oil is good too, and so on. No wonder they outlawed it - there might be no liver damage to medicate with Crestor.
