SAINT-CASMIR, Que. - A crazy snowmobiler with a helmet camera filmed a wild ride over open water near Quebec City, at high speed and very high risk.
The video, posted to Facebook, has caught the attention of Quebec provincial police, who won't rule out criminal charges.
The stunt driver is seen skimming along the ice-covered Sainte-Anne River before suddenly crossing over a long gap in the ice.

There are competitions in which snowmobilers pass over water, but the events are sanctioned and locations are secure.
In this case, the snowmobiler appears to be alone, filming the stunts with a helmet camera.
The local mayor, Dominic Tessier, lambasted the mystery stuntman.
"We really don't encourage that," he said. "If the snowmobiler had needed help, it would be our fire departments who would have gone out ... and risked their health and their lives."
The speed limit for snowmobiles is 70 km/h but the person in the video seems to be going much faster.
Ten Quebecers have died in snowmobile crashes this season.

We did that in the 70's, long before the web cam and social networks got excited over it. We found that at least 60 mph (100 kph) was needed to stay afloat and travelling. No wave action over a couple inches tolerated and as to search and rescue, we reckoned that we would quit when the out of bounds skiers did.

Northern Ontario,
I do believe a Timmins ontario man started that in the early to middle "70. I can't recall his name just now but It'll come to me.

In the bush near Sudbury
I remember open water and an OPP chaser in Bobcaygeon. Why go a couple of miles uplake when I'm a hundred feet from bye-bye? From the other side I watched cop on lead sled do a three point turn and leave on his mighty Snow Cruiser.

The next year, someone didn't make it.
