Some people are born to shop. Others have it thrust upon them. Fortunately, Peapod & I fall into the first category.

After a quick stop at Starbuck’s for fuel (where Peapod kinda had to do the Queen Victoria wave to her multitude of fans!), we were off. First stop, Galianomamma’s house. A piece of apple pie and a coffee table crammed into the back seat, we were off.

By the way, Galianomamma … DO NOT paint that antique! It’s beautiful! And your Mom is one cool granny!:glasses7:
:blob:
Then it was to the thrift stores. I, of course, must examine every article. Peapod, of course, runs through the place like a full-scale hurricane, unfailingly zoning in on all the brand name goodies. I’m taking lessons from her but I think Peapod’s technique is unlearnable. I just ain’t that quick … even if I were on speeders!

Then came the comparison shopping. Peapod would hold up a nice Donna Karan suit, very classy, very posh. In response, I would hold up something made of see through material covered in sparkling sequins. I would make a mad dash to the feather boas, Peapod would converge on the flannel shirts and hand knitted toques.

Shoes. Peapod would go into paroxysms over some kind of high end leather goat-herder slip ons. I, of course, would swoon over the spike heels … and if they had sparkles on them, it would bring me near delirium. We did agree, though, on one set of footwear. A man walking across the street had these killer boots … with toes that curled up about 6 inches. We both had to yell out the window, “Cool shoes dude!” and give him thumbs up.

In the end I bought a book and a couple pairs of nice fluffy sweat pants and Peapod bought a video on fishing.

One of the best parts of the adventure was the driving around. If you’ve ever been to Mexico and taken a taxi, you will know exactly what I’m talking about. Arms waving, horns honking, total disregard for those little lines they paint on the road. Peapod is a most excellent driver -- which is a very, very good thing … since she drives like she shops. Top speed.

I’m thinking I might be able to make an industry out of Peapod’s thrift shopping. If I sell tickets to tourists for a two hour tour with her, I may just put the whale watching industry out of business here!

Anyone wanting in on the action can send me a cheque and we'll get this biz started!

RE: Cosmo & Peapod's Exce

I have a big green truck that's looking for a home Peapod. It only needs one part...a motor. Its the perfect truck for a lumberjack. ;-)

The truck is cute, but possessed. Kinda like the Rev.
I've seen both of them. Bring beer for any bartering purposes.

RE: Cosmo & Peapod's Exce

It's worth 8 dozen Two Rivers Red if I drag it to the junk yard. I have to get the distributor out of before it goes anywhere though...I borrowed that from my bro in-law when the motor was in the truck before the big green truck. Hey, that motor is on it's third truck! No wonder it decided it didn't want to run anymore.

The tires are good and the clutch is dandy. It pops out of second gear sometimes, but that's no big deal, you just have to hold it in gear.

You'll need many shovels if you want to get it out in the winter. It's about 200 feet to the nearest alley.

hey - that's my special cape you're talking about.....i changed it for the plaid one - you know - orange and green 8)

way too kewl.......

but, we could do the trip in quik time i tell you, we only have a window of opportunity of about 6 days. that should do it, as far as i can tell. yes, the first day to get off the rock, and then we would camp in hope. nothing like winter camping, especially in the rockies. hmmm....we could take our hot paws and stuff. we could bring along a shovel to dig our 'cave' every night. cosmo could make the dinner over the coleman and it would be perfect. can't wait!!!!

Galianomama ... camping, of any sort, has all the appeal of waxing my armpits. Winter camping would be so much worse that it could be used as torture to get me to tell you anything you want to know. I am a condo camper ... if it doesn't have a hot tub and a dishwasher I consider it roughing it!! My Jack Russell and I would be huddled under a heap of quilts somewhere, snapping and snarling at anyone who lifted the edges and let in the cold!

But I would like to see you in the cape! Would you care to borrow one of my pairs of high boots to complete the fashion statement? :) I'll wear my new fur coat and we'll be belles of the ball ... Peapod can provide contrast in her toque, flannel shirt and little baby size hiking boots.

As for that gorgeous piece of furniture, Galianomomma, I would be more than happy to haul it over to Peapod's in my truck. Say the word and I will be there with bells on. :)
