Every year the British monarch hosts two or three garden parties at Buckingham Palace and one at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.

Today King Charles III hosted his first garden party alongside the Queen for the upcoming Coronation.
Also in attendance were the King's brother and his wife the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh (Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones).
The four stood to attention as God Save the King was played.
The King met American singer Lionel Richie, who will perform at the Coronation concert at Windsor Castle on Sunday. Richie described it as a "once in a lifetime opportunity" to take part in the Coronation celebrations. The singer and the King have struck up a friendship in recent years.
