There is one thing i really dont understand. Why dont we computerize all the activities of the canadian governemnt. All the monetary ins and outs should be logged and monitored via a computer system. A public web site should alos be avaiable to the grand public that would allow us to browse, search and categorize all the spedings of the government.
This system would ensure complete transparency and allow everyone the proper access to information we deserve, anyways, isn't it public money? If a 'friend' receives a bribe, it would be easily visible to everyone. Contracts given to highest bidders or friends, no public offerings, this would all be visible for all to see and report.
If we had such a system, it would also be much faster to compute the true financial health of the country, etc. We would also become much more efficient.
In certain countries such as india, and even some provinces such as new brunswick, the health care systems have been completely computerized, providing high efficiency and reducing losses. Other provinces such as quebec are not, and the loss in efficiency is catastrophic. The advantages in these instance of computer management are highly obvious.
What do you think? could it be feasible?
