It was no party for one Louisiana senator who flew into a rage after seeing a co-worker's bikini-themed birthday cake.
Sen. Karen Carter Peterson was using the break room at the state capitol building in Baton Rouge when she noticed a birthday cake for state Rep. Mark Abraham on the table, according to Mashable. A sign saying, "Happy Birthday Mark Abraham. He likes his cake and eats it too," was displayed next to the cake, which was shaped like a woman's torso, wearing a bikini and with candles placed on the breasts.
Peterson told Mashable she chewed Abraham out over the cake -- "I said some language I’m not proud of using" -- and then smashed the sign into the cake before throwing it all in the trash.
Peterson later posted a posted a photo of the cake to Twitter, along with the message: "The [Louisiana State Capitol] (is) not a “locker room”! If folks want to celebrate [birthdays] like this, don't do it here!"
Reaction on the social media site was mixed, with some supporting Peterson's actions and other saying the government should be focused on more important issues than birthday cake.
"Very selfish and intolerant of you. I don't think you're allowed to destroy other people's stuff just because you don't approve," tweeted one user.
"No matter how many moments we mark in history, in any setting, men will still objectify women & find it acceptable," replied another.
