James Cleverly - the Home Secretary on the day the Tories were demolished in the General Election - has launched his Tory leadership bid.

The MP for Braintree, who is also an Army Reserve officer, does not believe that Prime Minister Keir Starmer will live up to his promise to spend 2.5% of GDP on defence up to 2030 and promises to increase Britain's defence spending to 3% of GDP if he becomes Prime Minister.

Britain already has the world's 6th biggest defence budget after USA, China, India, Russia and (weirdly) Saudi Arabia.
