Candy Cane represents Jesus

I witnessed a reverend last night telling a group of kids, including my own, about how the candy cane was created to represent Jesus so that everytime they had one they would think of Jesus. Excuse me, but why would this falsehood be told to innocent kids? I can answer my own question - brainwashing - but why lie about it? Isn't it morally wrong to knowing tell lies as a representative of the Lord, especially when those lies are about the Lord?

I don't know if you noticed my rather warm feelings towords the "church", but it is that very sentiment that riles me so.

I have nothing against faith or the Christian Church as a whole. I take issue with the misconceptions and out right lies they perpetually push on the youth as a form of indoctrination.

Why lie about?

It is not only morally wrong, but it should be a crime. The mass media, organized religions and jerk-kneed reactionaries are quick to point their bony fingures at modern day religious movements as "Cults". But isn't organized religion just a state sanctioned cult? Spreading by deciept and missinformation, with indoctrination practices rivalling many modern religious movements.

Make no mistake Kreskin, the church will survive at all costs. Lying to children is easy, when you have the ablity to turn a blind eye to rampant pediphilia.

Yeah, the church in a way is like our schools- telling the kids every future vote counts and we live in a democracy. It's all chilling. But it's human. We live by subterfuge. I'm almost used to it. And when Canadians sing their national anthem, mouthing words they know in many cases are meaningless, they also recognize this is exactly as it should be.
