So far it looks like 85% of Canadians agree with you, Galianomama. Only 15% want an election right away. Most have indicated they want to wait until the full results of Gomery are out.

absolutely. why would i want an election without having all the information in front of me? i would want to wait until the interviews are finished with and the inquiry completed.

Judging by tone of Stephen Harper lately, he's a lot like dim-wits in Blazing Saddles that were going to hang the guy and his horse.

RE: Canadians are ready f

I just saw on ctv news here in Vancouver 62% of people do not want an election until the Gomery Inquirey is all done.

It also said Conservatives are 35%, Libs 25%, NDP 21%, Bloc 13% and greens 5% in polls nation wide.

But polls can be twisted. The BQ is really 0 except in Quebec where they are probley 75%.

You know since 60-75% of the people depending on what poll you read, do not want an election until Gomery is done. Gomery's report will not be released until December.

So If the Conservatives do bring down the government and we have a snap election,( when the people clearly do not want one), hurt the Tories at the polls?

I mean June 27 are not people on Vacation?

The only thing scarier than Harper is knowing that our PM is a thief, a liar and avoids paying Canadian taxes by using offshore ports for his steamship lines. All he needs to do now is kill someone and he'll be perfect.

BAAAA! BAAAA! BAAAAA! as Canadians line up to vote this scum in again.

I do agree with you. Thus why I've never voted for him. I did vote for Chretien though, as much as I hated the man, he did a great job.

Most likely it will. I think most Canadians are intelligent enough to realise that corruption in government exists to some extent regardless of political stripe and doesn't involve the entire party. I also highly doubt Canadians will forget what the Liberals have done for our deficit over the past decade either.
The Conservatives in Ontario left one hell of a mess to clean up and this is where they need the votes most. I mean, people always gripe about Rae in Ontario as the reason the NDP haven't got a chance so the same must apply to the Conservatives.

I think our vindictive sides will be brought to light if an election is called before the facts are in and punish those we view as causing it. (rightly or wrongly)

June 27 is generally considered the latest an election can be held before people go on vacation.

Nobody wants a summer election, so if it isn't called by then we'll be waiting until the fall. Vacation time ends in September, but Gomery won't be in the news by then. That will leave us waiting for Gomery to make his actual report. Since it's unlikely that he'll be anywhere near as negative as the testimony is, and that report won't be so spinable, the Conservatives aren't going to want to wait until then.

November also brings us into the x-mas season. Again, not a good time to have an election for anybody. So we start looking at the spring again. I don't think Harper wants to wait a whole year.
