Canadian Government Flip-Flop Award

Politicians make promises then decide to go a different direction it is commonly known as a flip-flop.

Conservatives, Liberals, Bloc and the New Democrats have done it.

In your opinion which party has done it the most and name the specific flip-flop.

I don't know about the most - but here are a number.

Preston Manning and the Reform Party - allowing MPs to speak their minds and vote against the party line - This lasted only a few months before Manning stomped on it.

Steven Harper fixed election dates - this lasted only until he saw a chance to win a majority

Going way back - Pierre Trudeau and wage and price controls - he condemned the idea during the election campaign and then implemented it while in power.

I'd guess the Glibs simply because they've been gov't more times and longer. Martin flipflopped on about a third of his red book if I remember correctly. Harpy flipflopped on repealing the long gun registry. The Dippers? Well, Jack just disagrees with anything any other party says.
