the so called 'fact checking" orgs have proven to be pretty useless and incredibly bias. So that's not a solution. ​

Honestly i think that the only real solution is to be much better at teaching people how to assess information they come across more effectively. We don't really spend much effort in our educational institutions in the art of critical thinking and assessing the accuracy of info. ​

In a perfect world that's just how it would be. But in the real world there are those who activley work to destroy the credibility of any source that doesn't march in lockstep with their own vision of the way things should be. These are not the sort of people prone to picking up a book now and then.

Sure. And some days it's hard to think of Humans as the best we could manage with 4 billion years of evolution to work with. But - at the end of the day it's what we've got to work with and there's no way to prevent people from being exposed to questionable information, so the best we can hope for is to try to 'immunize' them as best as possible and allow free speech so that all knowledge and ideas are out there.
