Right now, governments step on the gas peddle and the brake peddle at the same time and the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.
Sometimes when there is a big wreck (or very slow progress) it is because outside forces are making it that way rather than the people are really that incompetent.
Having a provincial and federal Government is double billing taxpayers for the same service. One could be eliminated entirely and modern technology would see things move along at a faster and much smoother rate than they are with the current version. The money saved would be sent to the poor and give them a travel card for Canada that is free and unlimited mileage and free room and board along the way. 2 week stay max in any one location. The government raises a carbon tax to reduce fuel consumption but then wants to subsidise the car industry and tourism to far-flung regions of the country so as to undermine the very objective of the carbon tax.
The two are meant to go hand in hand. More fuel used at a higher price. The justification is that all countries chip that in to fund some very expensive projects dreamed up by the world bank that does nothing to change 'horrible fate ahead'. Warmer or colder is the same result apparently. France went up in flames over that fake tax, we caved without a whimper.
If hemp was the program and $20N was thrown at it we would be a leader in textiles/plastics and all sorts of other marketable goods. We don't even have a Canadian strain of seeds after 20 years of it being a legal crop. When the R&D it would be the employees that changed a job into a sustainable business and the profits stayed in Canada rather than being scooped up by Wall St.
1972 is what 'they do when they want people to park their vehicles. The big trucks and boats still move along like always.
Tourism to 'Mars would be any northern Island that has no vegetation. The industry that supports it would have to develop suits that would keep the guest warm and dry and happy in a climate that would kill you in minutes. Being unharmed in a Polar Bear attack would make for a customer who will be back. Whale watching from glass walled subs that feed the critters as they move along so the schools of fish come to them and surround the sub. The fast winds that come over the Rockies could support tethered hand glider sized devices that allows height of 3 miles in 100km winds while having control as well as the ground having takeoff and landing control so no crashes. Hemp lines would be as strong as carbon-fiber is today.
Another example. The government want to promote the local indigenous language but then imposes Anglo-French bilingualism across the Federal government so as to pressure them to invest more time studying English and French if they want to work for the Fed so leaves little time for their own languages.
Smart signs in Government buildings would allow all languages be available either as a keyboard or touch with multiple choice available for the new comers. Filling out forms should be inline rather than personal visits and a smart phone as a dictionary with the 1600 most often words in English. To help that along on-line shopping would use local stores and your order was placed from home and when you get there you pay and pock the goods up rather than you do any shopping on your own. To do it like all R&D you start small and up-size it. Amazon,ca should be designing the Indian villages that are fukked at the moment so they are what they want their warehouses to be like. They are remote so secrecy is 'built-in'. The 'others will bitch like hell while ignoring that the final version is what they will get so it works rather than it works after 'the bugs are fixed'.

A Ministry of Policy Harmonisation could make the Government aware of such contradictory policies and so propose that the Government choose between them or abandon both policies. This would reduce the number of laws that just create Extra costs while accomplishing nothing.
Iceland took the right steps to become that free. That are black-listed by the IMF. We could do the same but there would be hell to pay so nothing will change just because the current way is flawed.
There are easy solutions to all of them also yet TPTB insist none of them be implemented as it would 'challenge them' always 'having the 'upper-hand'.
