Calgary police arrest carjacking suspect after dangerous drive across city
No one was severely injured in a wild rampage-on-wheels after a wanted man hijacked a taxi and careened throughout east Calgary.
The high speed drama began in Deer Run and proceeded north up Deerfoot Tr. and into various neighbourhoods.
Police monitored the fleeing Checker cab by helicopter for at least 30 minutes as it narrowly missed numerous pedestrians and struck a number of vehicles.
The cab finally struck a BMW sedan while running a red light at 32 Ave. and 64 Ave. N.E.
He tried to flee on foot but was quickly arrested.
The driver of the BMW wasn't badly hurt but the suspect sustained head injuries.
