Karlin's turn: - Ya, but thats not a lot of grief, really, it is just a movie. Even seeing an ACTUAL assassination of GW Bush isn't so horrible, not like your mother being raped beaten and shot in front of her children, which is typical actions in war zones.
Maybe to those soft Americans who don't ever have to taste the horrors of war, famine, and even just the illnesses of unclean water, maybe this film will be "searing".
Compared to what the people who are currently the victims of Bush's foreign policy are going through, seeing any film would be less tragic than their daily reality.
This grand disconnect {of American Elitism VS the hordes of suffering poor the world over} is essential to keeping the American Dream facade going strong, becaue otherwise Americans would become aware of the inequality that exists on planet earth, an inequality that has Americans perched atop the poor in a dominating position, literaly and figuratively.
The reality of seeing themselves as the CAUSE of the worlds biggest problems, and greatest threats to survival, would be even harder for them to sit thru, as in the USAs' War on Terrorism, and Gore's movie on global warming.
I praise the makers of this movie. It shows the strength of the committment in the minds of anti-Bush people in the world, and they are a HUGE majority compared to Bush supporters. And it shows that crimes and acts of evil are not without consequence - at least we can hope the perpetrators are brought to justice. No single assassination could ever be equal to the death and destruction of Bush Policy, but its as good as we can do without crossing into his realm of evil.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,,1862148,00.htmlThe drama takes the form of a fictional documentary looking back at the assassination of Mr Bush in October 2007, after he has delivered a speech to business leaders in Chicago.
When Mr Bush arrives in the city he is confronted by a massive demonstration against the Iraq war and is gunned down by a sniper as he leaves the venue.
Death of a President also looks at the differing viewpoints of the pro- and anti-Iraq war lobbies and the impact of Mr Bush's war on terror on the US.
Comments on Movie from Americans:
Obviously, there are people who would like to harm Bush, their reasons ranging from terrorism to derangement. Why add to that general climate with a movie like this.
Then there was the assassination of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. quickly followed by the murder of Sen. Robert Kennedy. I thought surely the world was coming to an end. Fortunately, President Reagan and Pope John Paul II survived the attempts on their lives.
These events were so searing to me and most Americans, I can’t imagine sitting through this movie.
