British Foreign Secretary David Lammy is on a two-day visit to India as the two Commonwealth allies aim to forge an even closer relationship.

Lammy held talks with his Indian counterpart Jaishankar in Indian capital New Delhi.

India, which gained her independence from Britain in 1947 and is the world's largest democracy and largest English speaking country, and Britain desire to work more closely together on a number of issues.

India wishes to explore numerous ways in which she can work more closely with Britain.

Lammy also met with Indian PM Narendra Modi.
