Britain's Labour Government has today announced that the country's military is to be significantly beefed up in this "new era of threat."

Speaking at Westminster today, British Defence Secretary John Healey outlined the key structural reforms designed to streamline accountability and improve efficiency in the military. He detailed the introduction of four new senior leaders who will report directly to him, including a new Chief of the Defence Staff, a revamped Permanent Secretary, a new Armaments Director, and a new Chief of Defence Nuclear - the person responsible for Britain's nuclear weapons.

Labour also promises to raise defence spending from 2.3% of GDP to 2.5% of GDP.

The strengthening of the British military means that there will be an 11% cut in public services.
