Europe's two largest economies Britain and Germany are in talks over a new co-operation agreement and the two hope to soon sign a new treaty.

Britain has ruled out "reversing Brexit, re-entering the Single Market or the Customs Union" but admitted that there will be a "close relationship" with Germany on various areas, "including the economy, including defence, including exchanges".

Starmer and Scholz hold a press conference...

German soldiers welcome Starmer to Berlin outside the Reichstag

German soldiers give British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer a warm welcome to Germany in Berlin.

Europe's two most powerful nations - not long ago deadly enemies - wish to co-operate more closely in various issues including defence, trade and tackling illegal immigration.

Britain and Germany are Europe's two largest economies and Europe's two largest defence-spending nations.

The two great nations held talks today and hope to sign a treaty by the end of the year.

Outside the parliament stormed by the Red Army in 1945, German soldiers played the British national anthem "God Save the King".
