I met a guy in a bar one day who seemed have the true faith thing figured out, Mooseskin. He insisted that he'd bribed an angel to keep the old bastard alive until he got heaven so he could strangle the bastard in person.

You ever notice that you meet far more interesting people in the bar at 11:00 a.m. than you do at 11:00 p.m.?

Warning From a Student of Democracy's Collapse

Here Are Some Quotes From The Article:

Hitler saw himself as "the instrument of providence" and fused his "racial dogma with a Germanic Christianity."

"Some people recognized the moral perils of mixing religion and politics," he said of prewar Germany, "but many more were seduced by it. It was the pseudo-religious transfiguration of politics that largely ensured his success, notably in Protestant areas."

"The comparison between the propagandistic manipulation and uses of Christianity, then and now, is hidden in plain sight. No one will talk about it. No one wants to look at it."

"There was a longing for a new authoritarianism with some kind of religious orientation and above all a greater communal belongingness. There are some similarities in the mood then and the mood now, although also significant differences."

There is the danger in an open society of "mass manipulation of public opinion, often mixed with mendacity and forms of intimidation."

"The radical right and the radical left see liberalism's appeal to reason and tolerance as the denial of their uniform ideology," he said. "Every democracy needs a liberal fundament, a Bill of Rights enshrined in law and spirit, for this alone gives democracy the chance for self-correction and reform. Without it, the survival of democracy is at risk. Every genuine conservative knows this."

Doesn't eating too much cheese lock up the nether regions ? As in constipation ?

And if "they" are more interesting in a bar at 11am than 11pm then maybe they were former 11pm warriors ?

And why does this board freak out about religion so much? Obviously religion with all of its mindmeld power cannot superglue itself to this board's collective ganglia.
This board has its own set of beliefs kin to any rigidity a religion has.

But most of all that bar crowd at 11am ---- where is this ?

Whats wrong with the message "Jesus loves you?"

Oh I suppose in true Canuckistan tradition if its anything to do with Christianity it must be derided and condemned. Ppffffit! I suppose Islamo thuggery is more in your realm of ultra leftwing approval.

That pilot must have run out of smoke. The second line should have read:
"Despite the resident idiots and imbeciles."

Nothing wrong with the message I see.

There is no tradition here that you spoke of, after all it is predominantly christian in canada also, we just don't do the in-your-face protelizing that many groups tend to do...Although the Jehovas Witnesses and to a lesser extent Mormons are pretty much the same here as in the States in regards to that recruitment style.

 Here's a bet, if anyone can pay a pilot in the same area to write: SMILE MOHAMMAD LOVES YOU

I'm putting 50$ that the pilot would be shot down, and that local residents -christian and non christian would be whipped up into a frenzy. Damn I wish I could afford a pilot for that reason, but then If I did I'd most likley be investigated by Homeland security.
