Jack Crawley, 20, has been sentenced to a minimum of 37 years before the possibility of parole for murdering Paul Taylor, 56.
Mr Taylor met Crawley online and drove down from Scotland to meet Crawley for a homosexual relationship.
Instead, Crawley bludgeoned Taylor to death with a claw hammer or mallet and concealed his body in woods in Carlisle, Cumbria, not far from the Scottish border.
The 20 year old will be 57 when he has the first chance of parole.
Crawley was also handed a concurrent 15 year sentence for attempting to murder a man in York in January 2024 after consensual sex.
In addition, he also received two four-month custodial sentences to be served concurrently after pleading guilty to being in possession of an offensive weapon and burglary.
Mr Justice Goose showed no mercy as he handed down the horrific punishment arguably worse than the death penalty.
