Okay, so, I'm a bit paranoid about on-line personal info, but, I will risk saying that this is so close to home, that I've driven past this crime scene roughly ten times in the last four days. No one tell my paranoid mother-in-law, k? She seems to think we'll all be killed in our sleep as it is. Karrie.

(and might I add... how's that for concise, to the point, non-speculative reporting hey?)

EDMONTON - The body of a young man was found stuffed in the trunk of a car abandoned in a northeast Edmonton church parking lot last night.
He has been identified as Richard Alexander Harris, 22, of Edmonton.
Police did not release the cause of his death.

This silver Hyundai Elantra, now parked in the police garage, was found with a body in the trunk in a church parking lot on Tuesday night.

Shaughn Butts, Edmonton Journal

A 2007 silver Hyundai Elantra was found in the lot at 144th Avenue and 94th Street at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after a caller phoned in a suspicious vehicle.

When officers arrived they found blood on the vehicle and Harris's body inside the trunk.
This is Edmonton's 16th homicide of the year. Last year at this time there had been nine.

When it happens close to home it feels much different. Hang in there.

To me, it's just...it just is. I mean, you never want to hear about something like this happening...but it is part of what makes the world go round unfortunatly. I don't feel that Edmonton is an unsafe city by any means. It will be interesting to hear what exactly happened in this case, and if choice of lifestyle played a part. We shall see.

It was an exorcism gone wrong. Seriously though a young man has passed on, most likely through homicide and who knows what the reason for it was. Was it a personal hit, gangs other reasons, innocent bystander perhaps, we will only find out when the cops complete their investigation however for Karrie it is tough but fight through it because you have to stay tough for family and friends. I would suggest if you are in a rough end of Edmonton to lock all doors and maybe gets some bars for windows or an alarm system. But, just be glad it wasn't a friend or family member that was killed in such a horrible way and stay safe.

Yikes Karrie, I didn't realize it was on the north end. For some reason I thought it was downtown. That's a little too close to me for comfort too. 8O However, I'm sure they'll find that this is somehow related to lifestyle... these types of horrors usually are. Still pretty sad though.

In a dump situation like this, the neighborhood the body is found in is generally NOT the one the crime took place in. Who tosses a body in their own back alley? The north end isn't necessarily where the man was killed. Just... wow. And yeah, lifestyle is almost always THE biggest issue. Since we moved to the city, we've removed some of the crazy nonsense like window bars and such from our home. I refuse to live my life caged inside my own house in fear, no matter how close some of these stories might hit to home.
